Resumo A perturbação dos fragmentos de florestas tem reduzido a qualidade ambiental, serviços ecossistêmicos e atenuações climáticas nas cidades. O objetivo deste artigo foi analisar a qualidade dos fragmentos de floresta nativa próximos às áreas urbanas. Foram selecionados sete fragmentos, no Sudeste do Brasil, para análise em duas escalas espaciais: paisagem e fragmento. Estruturaram-se as análises combinando o diagnóstico da paisagem e a avaliação dos fragmentos analisados a partir da aplicação de um Índice de Integridade Biótica. Na escala da paisagem, os dados demostraram existir relação entre o tamanho do fragmento de floresta urbana e sua integridade biótica e relação inversamente proporcional entre integridade e razão perímetro/área. Na escala do fragmento, corroborou-se a hipótese deste artigo, demonstrando haver relação entre a qualidade dos fragmentos florestais urbanos com a proximidade da urbanização. O método mostrou-se um instrumento importante para elaboração de políticas públicas ambientais de planejamento e conservação de florestas urbanas.

Abstract The disturbance of forest fragments has reduced environmental quality, ecosystem services and climate mitigation in several cities. The aim of the current article is to analyze the quality of native forest fragments close to urban areas. Seven forest fragments in Southeastern Brazil were selected for analysis based on two spatial scales: landscape and fragment. Analyses were structured by combining landscape diagnosis to the evaluation of the analyzed fragments, based on the application of an Index of Biotic Integrity. Data analyzed at landscape scale have shown association between the size of the analyzed urban forest fragment and its biotic integrity, as well as inversely proportional association between integrity and perimeter/area ratio. The fragment scale enabled corroborating the current study’s hypothesis and evidenced association between quality of urban forest fragments and their proximity to urban areas. The adopted method has proved to be an important instrument to help developing environmental public policies focused on urban forests’ planning and conservation.

Resumen El objetivo de este artículo es analizar la calidad de los fragmentos forestales nativos con la proximidad de la urbanización. Siete fragmentos de bosques nativos en el sureste de Brasil fueron seleccionados para su análisis a dos escalas: paisaje y fragmento. Los análisis se estructuraron combinando el diagnóstico de uso y cobertura del suelo, índices paisajísticos y el Índice de Integridad Biótica (IIB) de los fragmentos analizados. En la escala paisajística, los datos mostraron que existe una relación entre el tamaño del fragmento del bosque urbano y el IIB, así como una relación inversamente proporcional entre la integridad y la relación perímetro/área. En la escala del fragmento, se corroboró que existe una relación entre la calidad de los fragmentos del bosque urbano con la proximidad de la urbanización. El método resultó ser un instrumento para la elaboración de políticas públicas ambientales para la planificación y conservación de los bosques urbanos.

Resumo Considerando que a expansão urbana e o aumento das atividades antrópicas geram perda e fragmentação dos hábitats naturais, ameaçando a biodiversidade, a conservação dos remanescentes florestais urbanos é de extrema importância para a persistência de espécies de fauna e flora nativas. Sendo assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a estrutura da paisagem de área urbanizada no bioma Mata Atlântica, utilizando técnicas de geoprocessamento e fundamentos de Ecologia de Paisagem, visando a fornecer subsídios à conservação florestal na paisagem urbana. Um mapa de uso e cobertura foi utilizado para quantificar a cobertura florestal e para avaliar a estrutura da paisagem. As métricas de paisagem quantificaram área (AREA), forma (SHAPE) e proximidade (NEAR) dos remanescentes florestais, fornecendo indicadores da estrutura da paisagem. A cobertura florestal representa 22,9% da área de estudo, sendo apenas 3,6% dos fragmentos maiores que 50 ha. A grande maioria dos fragmentos (83%) tem área menor que 10 ha. Apenas três remanescentes são maiores que 500 ha, sendo que o maior deles localiza-se na Floresta Nacional de Ipanema. A maioria dos fragmentos florestais (80%) localiza-se em propriedades particulares. A paisagem foi diagnosticada como altamente antropizada e fragmentada, porém com remanescentes próximos entre si (NEAR < 50 m), potencializando a movimentação das espécies na matriz antrópica. Cenários de exclusão dos pequenos fragmentos demonstraram a fragilidade da matriz sem o apoio deles, pois os pequenos remanescentes contribuem para a conexão entre os maiores. O campo antrópico de vegetação pioneira é a segunda classe de uso de maior cobertura na área de estudo (20,4%), atrás somente da área urbanizada (25%). Ações para a manutenção da biodiversidade em paisagens antropizadas, como as da área de estudo, devem priorizar projetos de restauração de campos antrópicos, incentivos à conservação de remanescentes em propriedades particulares e a manutenção de pequenos fragmentos na paisagem, a fim de promover a conexão entre as grandes áreas florestais. Os planejamentos urbano e ambiental das cidades devem ser alinhados e baseados em estudos científicos sobre a espacialização da vegetação no ambiente urbano.

Abstract Considering that urban sprawl and the increase in anthropogenic activities lead to natural habitats loss and fragmentation, threatening biodiversity, the conservation of urban forest remnants is extremely important for the persistence of native fauna and flora species. The objective of this study was to evaluate the landscape structure of an urbanized area in the Atlantic Forest biome, using geoprocessing techniques and fundamentals of Landscape Ecology, in order to provide subsidies for forest conservation in the urban landscape. A land use/land cover map was used to quantify forest cover and to evaluate the landscape structure. Landscape metrics quantified the area, shape and proximity of the forest remnants, providing indicators of the landscape structure. Forest covers 22.9% of the study area, with only 3.6% of the fragments larger than 50 ha. The majority of the fragments (83%) has an area of less than 10 ha. Only three remnants are larger than 500 ha, the largest of them is located in Ipanema National Forest. Most forest fragments (80%) are located in particular properties. The landscape was diagnosed as highly anthropized and fragmented, but with remnants close to each other (NEAR < 50m) potentiating the movement of species in the anthropic matrix. Scenarios of exclusion of small fragments demonstrated the fragility of the matrix without their support, since the small remnants contribute to the connection between the larger ones. The anthropic grassland is the second largest land use class in the study area (20.4%), behind only the urbanized area (25%). Actions to maintain biodiversity in anthropized landscapes such as the study area should prioritize the restoration of anthropic grasslands, incentives for forest conservation in private properties and the maintenance of small fragments in the landscape, in order to promote the connection between large forest areas. Urban and environmental planning of cities should be aligned and based on scientific studies on the spatialization of the vegetation in urban areas.

Resumo Diante dos diversos métodos de mensuração da integridade biótica de determinada área de floresta evidencia-se a Avaliação Ecológica Rápida (AER). Com base na AER foi desenvolvido um índice para avaliar a condição da vegetação, denominado Índice de Integridade Biótica (IIB). A aferição e precisão deste índice retratam o quão íntegro um dado ecossistema florestal se encontra no momento da análise. O alicerce para a eficiência na aplicação do IIB está na escolha correta dos indicadores de integridade biótica, ou seja, nas variáveis a serem mensuradas. O presente estudo partiu de um índice anteriormente proposto para Floresta Estacional Semidecidual (FES), e teve como objetivo adaptar o IIB para uso em área de Floresta Ombrófila Densa no Estado de São Paulo, bem como testar sua eficiência no diagnóstico da integridade de fragmentos de Floresta Ombrófila Densa (FOD) inseridos em matriz rural. Dos onze indicadores presentes no método original, alguns foram mantidos como no original ou adaptados, alguns retirados e alguns novos foram criados. O IIB adaptado foi aplicado numa área de FOD de 70 hectares. Para isso, foram utilizadas 20 parcelas de 10x10m, dentro da área amostral. Os resultados mostraram uma variação do IIB entre 28 e 47, ou seja, 2 parcelas registraram integridade baixa, 11 integridade média e 7 integridade boa. A área como um todo apresentou integridade regular, o que era esperado devido ao seu tamanho, ao entorno agrícola e ao histórico de perturbações. O IIB mostrou-se adaptado e eficiente para análise da integridade biótica da FOD, pois conseguiu mostrar a diferença de integridade entre diferentes trechos de Floresta Ombrófila Densa. Os indicadores menos eficientes foram: “cobertura de serapilheira” e “espécies exóticas lenhosas”. Os mais eficientes foram: “Euterpe edulis”, “epífitas”, “clareiras” e “cipós/lianas”.

Abstract Among the different ways of measuring the biotic integrity of a particular forest area, the Rapid Ecological Assessment (REA) stands out. Based on REA, an index was developed to evaluate the quality of the vegetation called the Biotic Integrity Index (BII). The measurement and accuracy of this index show how integral is the forest ecosystem at moment of analysis. The basis for efficiency in the application of BII is the correct choice of biotic integrity indicators or the variables to be measured. The present study was based from an index previously proposed for a Seasonal Semideciduous Forest (SSF), and aimed to adapt the BII for use in an area of Dense Ombrophilous Forest (DOF) in the State of São Paulo as well as to test its efficiency in diagnosing the integrity of fragments of a Tropical Rain Forest (TRF) inserted in a rural matrix. From the eleven indicators present in the original method, some were kept as original or adapted, some removed and some new ones were created. The adapted BII was applied in a TRF area of 70 hectares. To do so, 20 plots of 10x10m were used, within the sampling area. The results showed a variation of IIB from 28 to 47, and 2 plots recorded low integrity, 11 medium integrity and 7 good integrity. The area showed regular integrity as a whole, which was expected due to its size, agricultural surrounding and history of disturbances. The BII showed to be adapted and efficient to analyze the biotic integrity of the DOF, as it was able to show the difference of integrity between different patches of TRF. The least efficient indicators were: "litter cover" and "exotic woody species”, and the most efficient were: “Euterpe edulis”, “epiphytes”, “gaps” and “vines”.

RESUMO Uma das abordagens utilizadas para mitigar impactos e proteger a diversidade biológica, em longo prazo, é a preservação in situ, por meio do estabelecimento de áreas legalmente protegidas. O município de Piedade apresenta um conjunto de condições favoráveis à consolidação de áreas protegidas (urbanização relativamente baixa, presença de remanescentes florestais e relevantes Unidades de Conservação com porções dentro de seus limites). Nesse contexto, o presente trabalho teve por objetivo geral definir áreas prioritárias à proteção, por meio da Avaliação Multicriterial (AMC). Os objetivos específicos foram identificar os fatores e pesos importantes à definição das mesmas e avaliar qual método de AMC, se a Combinação Linear Ponderada (CLP) ou se a Média Ponderada Ordenada (MPO) seria mais apropriada para o presente estudo. Os critérios e seus respectivos pesos foram definidos por meio da Técnica Participatória. Tanto a CLP quanto a MPO possibilitam a identificação de áreas propensas a se tornarem protegidas, porém a CLP produziu soluções mais gerais e menos flexíveis. A MPO forneceu uma maior quantidade de possíveis respostas à questão de interesse. O mapa obtido por meio da MPO, com risco baixo de tomada de decisão, foi consi-derado o mais adequado para a proposta do estudo.

ABSTRACT The preservation in situ, through the establishment of legally protected areas, is one the approaches to mitigate environmental impact and protect biodiversity in the long term. The Piedade municipality shows a favorable set of conditions for consolidating protected areas (i.e. relatively low urbanization rates, the presence of forest remnants, and portions of relevant conservation units). In this context, the present study proposed the definition of priority areas for protection using Multicriteria Evaluation (MCE). The specific objectives were to identify the criteria and weights that are important for defining protected areas and to evaluate which method of MCE, whether the Weighted Linear Combination (WLC) or the Ordered Weighted Averaging (OWA) would be more appropriate. Using the Participatory Technique (PT), we defined criteria and weights. WLC and OWA made possible the identification of areas likely to become protected, but the first method produced more general and less flexible solutions. On the other hand, OWA provided a greater number of possible answers to the question of interest. Thus, showing the low-risk level, the OWA map was considered most suitable for the study proposal.

RESUMO O estudo teve por objetivo verificar os padrões da comunidade de aves associados a diferentes usos e cobertura do solo. A área de estudo foi uma unidade de conservação e faixa de entorno, utilizando-se o método dos pontos fixos para detecção das espécies de aves em 80 pontos visitados cinco vezes, durante o período de um ano. As observações foram realizadas em áreas utilizadas por usos classificados como agricultura (AGR) e floresta plantada (FP) e, também, cobertos por mata nativa (MNA) da região. Calculou-se os índices diversidade (H'), pontual de abundância (IPA), riqueza (X2) e as categorias tróficas das espécies, verificando-se a diferença entre H'e X2, em função dos usos e cobertura do solo, por meio de uma ANOVA. A partir dos dados de IPA e presença/ausência de espécies nas categorias tróficas avaliou-se, ainda, a similaridade taxonômica e funcional da comunidade de aves. MNA e FP apresentaram diferenças significativas tanto para X2 como para H', assim como entre MNA e AGRP e, entre AGRP e FP. Já para às categorias tróficas, obteve-se diferenças significativas entre MNA e AGRP e, entre FP e AGRP, em função de AGRP ser um ambiente homogêneo e, assim, com menor diversidade de recursos. Houve, portanto, similaridade entre MNA e FP, como consequência da heterogeneidade de suas estruturas que permite maior estabilidade da avifauna, em relação aos demais usos do solo. Conclui-se que a diversidade e riqueza de espécies de aves está relacionada à complexidade da estrutura da paisagem.

ABSTRACT The study aimed at verifying the patterns of bird community related to different land-use/land-cover. The study area was a Conservation Unit and its buffer area. We used the fixed-point method, visiting 80 points in five times, through one year. The points were plotted in lands agriculture (AGR) and planted forest (FP) and, in areas covered by native forest (NF). The diversity index (H'), abundance (IPA), richness (X2) and categories of species-trophic were calculated, as well as the difference between H' and X2 according to land-use/land-cover was verified by an ANOVA. We also evaluated the taxonomic and functional similarity of the bird community, based in IPA and bird presence/absence. There were significant differences for both X2 and H', comparing NF and FP; NF and AGRP and; AGRP and FP. Concerning the trophic categories, the significant differences were between NF and AGRP and; FP and AGRP, because AGRP is a homogeneous environment with less diversity of resources. Conversely, NF and FP presented similarities as a consequence of the heterogeneity of its structures that subsidize greater avifauna stability than other land-use/land-cover. We conclude that the bird diversity and richness is related to the complexity of the landscape structure.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to define potential areas for forest conservation to improve water quality, using Multicriteria Evaluation (MCE); and to verify differences between results from a multidisciplinary group of experts. We worked with the Pirapora River Watershed, Piedade/SP. The participatory method was used to identify the criteria and their relative importance. Priority maps representing expert opinion were elaborated, as well as a map with average weight values. We compared the differences between the criteria weight values and the maps of priority areas. The maps proposed distinct spatialization of priority areas, supporting the understanding of criteria that influence the decision-making process. The highest priority level was associated with areas near to springs, forest patches, and with the highest slope values. We concluded that the MCE is an efficient method to identify priority areas; however, the selection of an expert group is an essential step to generate representative analyses.

RESUMO O processo de urbanização transforma paisagens originais em um mosaico antropizado, causando impactos no ciclo hidrológico, na estrutura e função destas paisagens. Visando à manutenção dos recursos hídricos e da biodiversidade, em uma bacia hidrográfica urbanizada, o objetivo deste estudo foi a definição de áreas prioritárias à restauração florestal. Utilizou-se um método de Avaliação Multicriterial (AMC), seguindo as etapas: definição de critérios, identificação da importância dos critérios e, agregação de critérios por meio do método da Combinação Linear Ponderada (CLP). De acordo com os especialistas consultados, no contexto da Técnica Participatória, apenas dois critérios representavam a paisagem estudada: o proximidade à rede de drenagem e o proximidade aos fragmentos florestais. O primeiro critério foi considerado duas vezes mais importante do que o segundo e, por meio da matriz de comparação pareada, foram obtidos seus pesos de critério, respectivamente, de 0,83 e de 0,17. Estes pesos foram considerados na agregação dos critérios, por meio da CLP. O resultado foi um mapa de priorização de áreas, o qual apontou 5,06% da área de estudo com prioridade muito alta para restauração florestal; 5,22% com alta prioridade; 5,76% com prioridade média; 5,42% com baixa e; 78,53% com prioridade muito baixa. Pode-se assim dizer que a estrutura do processo decisório possibilitou a obtenção de um cenário à priorização de áreas, que direciona as ações de forma a se ter a restauração da paisagem, iniciando-se pela formação de um corredor florestal na zona ripária. Dessa forma, conclui-se que a definição de áreas prioritárias à restauração florestal é possível em uma paisagem urbanizada, utilizando o tradicional método da CLP de análise Multicriterial.

ABSTRACT Urbanization process transforms original landscapes into an anthropic mosaic, causing impacts on hydrologic cycles and on landscape structure and functions. Aiming at the maintenance of the water resources and biodiversity, in an urbanized watershed, the objective of this study was the definition of priority areas for forest restoration. We used a Multicriteria Evaluation (MCE) method, following the steps: criteria definition, identification of the criteria importance, and criteria aggregation through Weighted Linear Combination (WLC). According to the experts, consulted in the context of the Participatory Technique, only two criteria represented the studied landscape: proximity to drainage network and proximity to forest patches. The first criterion was considered twice more important than the second, and through the pairwise comparison matrix, it was obtained respectively the criterion weights of 0.83 and 0.17. The priority map was obtained through the criteria aggregation, using WLC, that considered the criterion weights. The result was a priority map, indicating 5.06% of the study area with very-high priority for forest restoration; 5.22% with high priority; 5.76% with medium priority; 5,42% with low and; 78.53% with very-low priority. We can say that the framework predefined for the study proposed a scenario for priority areas that allowed driving the actions in order to obtain a landscape restoration, beginning through a forest corridor in the riparian zone. Thus, we concluded that the definition of priority areas for forest restoration is possible in an urbanized landscape, using the traditional WLC Multicriteria method.

RESUMO A substituição da cobertura original do solo por outros usos, em especial quando se tem práticas inadequadas de manejo, pode causar alterações entre o escoamento superficial e infiltração da água das chuvas. O resultado pode ser o processo de erosão do solo e carreamento de sedimentos aos canais de drenagem em níveis acima do normal. A conservação da cobertura original de uma microbacia é, portanto, essencial à manutenção de seus recursos hídricos. Neste contexto, o principal objetivo do trabalho foi a priorização de áreas à conservação florestal de duas microbacias, visando à manutenção da disponibilidade de água, em quantidade e em qualidade ao abastecimento público. As microbacias foram selecionadas por sua importância regional e por possuírem semelhanças quanto ao uso e cobertura do solo. O estudo realizou-se no contexto da Avaliação Multicriterial (AMC), que permite a integração de diferentes características da paisagem (i.e. fatores), na proposição de uma solução para um processo decisório. Com a consulta à especialistas selecionou-se os seguintes fatores e, por meio do método da Comparação Pareada, definiu-se suas importâncias relativas (i.e. pesos de fator): declividade, fluxo acumulado, orientação das vertentes e, uso e cobertura do solo. Os mapas de fatores tiveram suas unidades normalizadas para uma escala comum e, em seguida, foram agregados por meio do método de AMC denominado Combinação Linear Ponderada (CLP). O teste de correlação de Pearson foi usado para avaliar a contribuição dos fatores no mapa final. A microbacia 1 apresentou cerca de 14% de sua área com muito alta prioridade à conservação florestal, 27% com alta, 19% com média, 21% com baixa e 18% com muito baixa. Para a microbacia 2 obteve-se valores, respectivamente, de 17%, 29%, 17%, 21% e 17%. Conclui-se que o método CLP permite a priorização de áreas à conservação florestal das microbacias de forma a se ter um direcionamento adequado das ações de conservação florestal.

Abstract Replacing the original land cover by other land uses, especially when it is associated with inadequate management practices, can cause changes in runoff and rainwater infiltration. This can result in above normal levels of soil erosion and sediment-carrying to the rivers and streams. The original land cover conservation in the watersheds is, therefore, essential for the maintenance of its water resources. In this context, the main objective of this study was to prioritize areas for forest conservation in two watersheds, aiming at maintaining the water availability, in terms of quantity and quality, for the public supply. The watersheds were selected considering their regional importance and because they are similar in terms of land use / land cover. The study was developed in the Multicriteria Evaluation (MCE) context, which permits the integration of different landscape characteristics (i.e. factors), in order to obtain a solution for the decision-making process. The following criteria were selected by considering the expert's opinions: slope, flow accumulation, aspect, and land use / land cover. Their relative importance (i.e. factor weight) was defined through the Pairwise Comparison Method. The criteria maps units were normalized by a common scale and then aggregated through an MCE method named Weighted Linear Combination (WLC). Pearson correlation was used to evaluate the criteria contribution on the final map. The watershed 1 was classified in approximately 14% of its area as very high priority; 27% as high; 19% as medium; 21% as low; and 18% as very low. The watershed 2 obtained, respectively, 17%; 29%; 17%; 21%; e 17%. We conclude that the WLC method supports the definition of priority areas for forest conservation in the watersheds, in order to have an appropriate design of actions for forest conservation.

No mapeamento da suscetibilidade de deslizamentos de terra, necessita-se agregar as características da paisagem que atuam de maneira distinta no processo de queda de barreira e podem representar especificidades de uma região. Nesse contexto, o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o método da Média Ponderada Ordenada (MPO) para o mapeamento de áreas suscetíveis ao deslizamento de terra. O método pressupõe a integração de diferentes características da paisagem (fatores), com a associação de pesos a elas (pesos de fator - pf). Pf representa a importância desses fatores para o estudo. Utilizaram-se, neste estudo, os fatores: substrato geológico, solos, declividade do terreno, uso e cobertura do solo e precipitação. Na definição dos fatores e seus pesos, empregou-se a Técnica Participatória. Para avaliação da MPO, geraram-se dois mapas de suscetibilidade, calculando o risco de tomada de decisão (R) e nível de compensação entre fatores (C). Para o primeiro, consideraram-se apenas pf e a compensação total entre fatores (C = 100%) e para o outro, um segundo grupo de pesos (de ordenação (po), que caracteriza a influência dos fatores). Os valores de pó resultaram em valor de C = 72%. No primeiro mapa predomina o nível de suscetibilidade médio, por influência excessiva do fator declividade (fator mais influente; com o maior de pf). No segundo, como consequência de po houve a agregação dos fatores de acordo com a importância previamente definida para eles e a melhor distribuição, em relação ao primeiro, de área entre os níveis de suscetibilidade. Concluiu-se que a MPO é adequada ao mapeamento da suscetibilidade de deslizamento, e a coerência entre pf e po confere robustez ao método.

The mapping of landslides susceptibility requires the aggregation of landscape characteristics that act differently in the process of landslides and may represents specificities of a region. In this context, the general objective of this study was to evaluate the Ordered Weighted Averaging (OWA) method in the mapping of landslide susceptibility. The method presupposes the integration of different characteristics of the landscape (factors), associating weights to them (named Importance Weights - IW). IW express the importance of these factors to the study. In the study, we used the factors: geological substrate, soil type, slope, land-use and land-cover, and precipitation. In the definition of factors and their weights, the Participatory Technique was used. In order to evaluate the OWA, two susceptibility maps were generated, calculating the decision making risk (R), and compensation level among factors (C). For the first one, only the IW and the total compensation among factors were considered (C = 100%) and for the other one, a second group of weights (the Order Weights (OW), that represents the influence of factors). Using the OW we obtain C = 72%. In the first map the medium level of susceptibility was predominant, by excessive influence of the slope factor (the most influent factor; with the highest IW). In the second map, by influence of OW, there was the aggregation of factors according to the importance predefined for them and the best distribution, in relation to the first one, of area between susceptibility levels. We conclude that OWA is adequate to mapping the landslide susceptibility and that the coherence between IW and OW is responsible to determine the robustness to the method.
